Designing on ostrich eggs is a well-known handicraft in Iran. Because the ostrich egg shell is hard, the first step in the design is to create a hole under the ostrich egg with a drill and empty the contents. After thoroughly washing the egg, they dry it. Iranian painters take the dried egg and gracefully paint on it. Finally, they emboss the egg with a special hand drill and shape it according to the pattern.
